Tim Wheaton becomes a Coaches across Continents mentor

Coaches across Continents have been able to further strengthen the Coaches Advisory Board with the addition of Tim Wheaton from Harvard University. Tim will bring his outstanding coaching experience to work on curriculum development and as a mentor for our soccer educators in the field.

Wheaton—just the second head coach in the history of Harvard women’s soccer—leaves behind a program that went 167-94-27 during his 18-year tenure. He guided the Crimson to four Ivy League championships and eight NCAA tournament appearances, and was named national coach of the year by Soccer Buzz in 1999.

Harvard’s best seasons under Wheaton were in 1997--—when the Crimson reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament before falling to eventual national champion North Carolina—and in 1999, when Harvard went 14-2-1 and finished the season ranked in the top-10.

"Working with Coaches across Continents is an exciting opportunity to use soccer to influence young lives all around the world.  We are not looking to create professional soccer players, we are looking to create better lives by using soccer games and practises to educate and influence the decisions of these young people.  We all have a responsibility for children everywhere and working on the "From Chance to Choice" curriculum with Nick Gates and the Advisory Board has been one the most fulfilling parts of my coaching career"  Tim Wheaton
